Raul Novo

Raul Novo was a savvy and passionate lawyer who specialized in criminal defense. Whereas many lawyers work in a variety of different areas of the law such as divorce and civil litigation, Raul dedicated himself 100% to criminal defense cases. Raul had a tremendous amount of courtroom experience and focuses his efforts representing clients who are facing drug charges, DUI arrests, and other criminal violations of the law. Raul had a vast amount of experience in both federal court and local courts. Raul fought for his clients in jury trials and bench trials in the cities and counties around the Richmond area such as Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Hanover, Henrico, Hopewell, and Sussex County.

Raul was a caring lawyer that spent time in court and at jails talking to his clients and fighting for their rights and cases.

Beloved father, husband and friend, Raul Novo, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Miguel Novo and Elodia Fernandez Novo. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 36 years, Deewanna Novo; his sons, Jeffrey Collins Novo and Alexander Michael Novo (Samantha); grandchildren, Sydney Anne Novo and Alexander Micheal Novo Jr.; and a host of close lifelong friends. Born in Cuba on December 30, 1955, Raul and his parents fled the island in 1960 to pursue the American dream. Educated in Richmond's parochial schools, Raul was an alumnus of St. Bridget's Catholic School and a 1973 graduate of Benedictine High School. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia where he was an active member of the Beta Chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He subsequently received his law degree from the University of Richmond's T.C. Williams School of Law. Raul worked tirelessly as an attorney for over 25 years, defending people in need, but one of his greatest achievements was serving as the patriarch of his family. Raul was an eternal optimist, a devoted son, loving husband, father and loyal friend to many. A Funeral Mass was held at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Rd. in Richmond, Va. Remember Raul as you wish, he was a fine man, who knew full well love is the answer and it is real.
